The Guest in Suite Five: a Halloween Murder Mystery in Port Perry
Start the weekend with dinner and a mystery at the George Stanley Inn, home of The Piano Cafe, at 217 Queen Street in Port Perry. The Guest in Suite Five, a Halloween murder mystery experience, runs Friday, October 30 at 6:30 PM, with tickets at $55 per person for the dinner show. It is an adults' night out in one of the most historic buildings downtown, so book ahead. See the Port Perry BIA featured events page and the Piano Cafe events page for details.
Night Maze at Cooper's CSA Farm & Maze in Zephyr
Cooper's CSA Farm & Maze at 266 Ashworth Road in Zephyr (Uxbridge Township) runs its Night Maze on Friday evenings through October, with the final one on October 30 from 7 to 10 PM (last entry 9:15 PM). It combines haunted shows with a maze walk on a working farm. Tickets are $24.83 online per person with advance purchase required, and ages 3 and under are free. Confirm details on the GTA family Halloween guide from to-do-canada.
Fear Forest's Final Night in Oshawa
Fear Forest, the indoor haunted attraction at Battle City Laser Tag, 60 Celina Street in Oshawa, runs its final night on Friday from 7 PM. It is a scare experience recommended for ages 10 and up, with tickets from $15.99 to $19.99 online. If the kids in your house are too old for gentle Halloween fun and too young to stay out late, this is the Friday night move. See the Durham Region tourism roundup of Halloween attractions for the full list of haunts.
Saturday, Oct-31: Halloween
Saturday is Halloween itself, and Durham Region runs from daytime family events straight into the big night. The day has a rhythm: farms and downtown trick-or-treats in the morning and afternoon, supper at home, then costumes and porch lights after dark.
Halloween Night in Durham Region (Headline)
Trick-or-treating happens on Halloween evening, October 31, across Port Perry, Uxbridge, Whitby, Oshawa, Ajax and beyond. Durham municipalities do not set official town-wide hours; families typically head out around 6 PM as dusk falls and finish by 8:30 to 9 PM. Follow the porch lights, and slow down while driving through residential streets. Our 2026 Trunk-or-Treat and Trick-or-Treat Guide for Oshawa and Durham Region has the honest picture on hours, safety tips and accessible trick-or-treating, including the blue-pumpkin initiative that treats kids with disabilities.
Daytime: Downtown Whitby BIA Trick or Treat
The Downtown Whitby BIA runs its Trick or Treat on Saturday from 12 to 3 PM at participating businesses in downtown Whitby. It is free, it is indoors-ish (in and out of shops), and it is a perfect early-Halloween warm-up for little ones before the evening rounds. See the Downtown Whitby BIA events page for participating locations.
Daytime: Halloween in Uxbridge
Uxbridge celebrates Halloween twice on Saturday. The Uxbridge Historical Centre hosts a family Halloween celebration from 11 AM to 2 PM with crafts, stories and treats, and the Uxbridge BIA runs a trick-or-treat trail through participating downtown businesses. Both are free and family-friendly, and they make a nice loop: history in the morning, sweet stops on Brock Street after. See the Township of Uxbridge events calendar for times and locations.
The Final Farm Weekend: Pingle's, Brooks, Forsythe and Applewood
This is the last full weekend for the big fall farms, and Halloween makes it extra special at several of them. Pingle's Farm at 1805 Taunton Road East in Hampton (Clarington) is open with $15 plan-ahead tickets, and kids 12 and under get free admission when they arrive in a full Halloween costume, with Playland, pick-your-own fields, the pumpkin patch, corn maze, wagon rides and animals. Brooks Farms at 122 Ashworth Road in Uxbridge runs its Fall FUN Festival from 9 AM to 4 PM with pumpkin cannons, pig races, the corn maze, zip lines, giant jumping pillows and wagon rides. Forsythe Family Farms at 1025 Cragg Road in Uxbridge runs its Pumpkin Festival from 9:30 AM to 5 PM with pick-your-own pumpkins, a corn maze, the Lost and Found cedar maze, the play train and carving stations. And Applewood Farm Winery at 2055 Saintfield Road in Seagrave, just north of Port Perry, holds the final day of its Fall Fun on the Farm on Halloween, 11 AM to 5 PM, at $13 with pumpkin and squash picking, the 40-acre corn maze, farm animals and a playground. Book ahead online; these farms sell out on the last weekend. See the Pingle's Harvest Festival page, the Brooks Farms Fall FUN Festival page, the Forsythe Pumpkin Festival page and the Applewood Fall Fun page.
Also in Port Perry: Nature Bounty
Close to home in Port Perry, Nature Bounty at 651 Scugog Line 2 keeps its fall activities running through October 31: a maize maze, pumpkins, farm animals and cider. It is a smaller, quieter alternative to the big farms and a classic stop for families in North Durham, and it sits minutes from downtown on the way to living on Lake Scugog country.
After Dark: Spooktacular Light Show in Ajax and Brawley Woods in Whitby
If your family prefers Halloween from the safety of the front seat, the Spooktacular Light Show at 462 Kingston Road East in Ajax is a drive-thru display of two million lights with animated scenes and a treat stop, running its final night on Saturday with timed entry from 7:15 PM. For older kids and brave adults, Brawley Woods Haunted Halloween Walk at 1320 Brawley Road West in Whitby runs its 30-minute forest haunt with live scare actors on select nights through November 1, from $35. Book the Spooktacular Light Show and check the Brawley Woods listing before you head out.
Sunday, Nov-1
Sunday is the recovery day, and it is a good one: clocks fall back at 2 AM for an extra hour of sleep, the farms open one last time, and the Oshawa Generals close the weekend at home in the evening.
Oshawa Generals vs. Ottawa 67's
The Oshawa Generals host the Ottawa 67's at the Tribute Communities Centre in Oshawa on Sunday with puck drop at 6:05 PM. It is a family-friendly way to finish the weekend after all the sugar, and tickets are on the Tribute Communities Centre events page.
One Last Day at the Farms
Sunday, November 1 is the final day of the fall season at Pingle's Farm in Hampton, Brooks Farms in Uxbridge, and Cooper's CSA Farm & Maze in Zephyr, so the corn mazes, wagon rides and pumpkin cannons get one last run before the farms switch to Christmas trees. If you did not make it out on Saturday, this is your last chance until next fall. Forsythe Family Farms also runs its Pumpkin Festival on Sunday from 9:30 AM to 5 PM. Our moving to Port Perry guide explains what year-round country life looks like in this corner of Durham Region once the farm season winds down.
Feather and Fortress: Cranberry Marsh and Second Marsh
Late October into November is peak waterfowl migration, and the marshes of Durham Region are moving day for ducks and swans. Cranberry Marsh at Lynde Shores Conservation Area in Whitby and the Cattail Marsh boardwalk are excellent for watching tundra swans and ducks pass through (free entry, paid day-use parking), and Second Marsh in Oshawa offers free, year-round boardwalk trails along the Lake Ontario shoreline. See the Lynde Shores Conservation Area page and the Second Marsh Wildlife trail page for hours and access.
Outdoors Close to Home in North Durham
Port Perry's waterfront trail along Lake Scugog, looping through Palmer Park, is a free, flat, family-length walk with lake views and the last of the autumn colour, and it is nicely paired with a coffee on Queen Street afterward. North of Uxbridge, the Durham Regional Forest offers 16-plus kilometres of marked trails for hiking (free public access, with parking limited to three hours). See the Township of Scugog trails page and the Durham Regional Forest page for maps. The Uxbridge Farmers' Market, meanwhile, has wrapped its outdoor season for 2026 and returns to the Uxbridge Arena for its indoor Holiday Markets later this fall.
